Worldwide Events in Carnatic Music
Events in carnatic music happen in all parts of the world at almost all times in a year. Of these, there are three events that are of utmost significance.
They are: December season, Thiruvaiyyaaru Sri Thyagaraja Aradhana and Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradana.

Thiruvayyaaru Sri Thyagaraja aradhana:

It is celebrated on Pushya Bahula Panchami day which is the maha samadhi day of saint Thyagarajar. The entire music fraternity gathers at Thiruvaiyyaru, the birth place of Sri Thyagarajar where his temple is located and offer their prayers by singing the five gems (Pancharathna krithis) of him which are set in ghana ragas.

December season:

Marghazhi festival of dance and music was started in the year 1927 to commemorate the anniversary of The Music Academy. Even today, it is held every year from mid-December to the mid of January at various sabhas like The Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha, Bharat Kalachar, Kartik Fine arts, to name a few and these sabhas also honour the musicians by conferring titles on them. It is a cultural extravaganza with more than 2000 artistes from India and abroad participating in over 300 concerts.

Cleveland Thayagaraja Aradhana:

It is the largest Classical music festival outside India. It began in the year 1978. Presently, it has more than 8000 attendees every year. The following year 2010 is the 33rd year of the Aradhana.
